Essex Street Inn

I stay at this Inn quite a bit and I continue to return because of the great hospitality and service I receive. Not to mention the Location is amazing walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. Darcy the manager is always a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend

Beautiful faclity tucked away on a quiet side street near shops and restaurants. It also seems like a bed and breakfast. It’s a great departure from the usual hotels I stay at and will definitely return often. The staff are excellent!!

They charged more than indicated when I booked (I did Pay Now and Save, boooking on choicehotels.com). The breakfast was very basic; coffee, cereal, plastic-wrapped sandwiches you could microwave, joghurt, fruit, plain bagels, bit more. Rooms were nice, clean comfortable, dark enough to sleep well.

You’re going to book this hotel for the location and come back for the customer service. Here’s what you’ll want to know: Made up of 3 historic buildings, all right next to one another. There are around 32 rooms and 27 parking spots. We were easily able to get a spot when we showed up at 2:30. If you arrive right around check in, you’ll get a spot. If not, there are public lots that are easily within walking distance. Except for ground floor, all the rooms have stairs you have to use to access them. The free breakfast is really great, with a range of options from healthy to greasy and sugary to make everyone happy. There’s a keurig in the room with a small refrigerator and an ice machine. We paid the extra for a room with a jetted tub and I recommend it. The beds were soft but supportive. As soon as we were in our rooms, the front desk called and asked if everything was to our liking. Please ignore the unmade bed in the photo, I took these on the way out.

We ended up having about 10 rooms here for our wedding, and we received not one complaint or suggestion about the location, other than some confusion about multiple buildings. It was very clean and modern, the bed was comfortable, all of our guests were able to find parking in the lot or on the street (with snow on the ground!). Our two-floor apartment exceeded expectations, with a fireplace and two bathrooms, it was perfect for our stay. We will definitely be staying here again.

Some of the most friendly customer service I've ever experienced was here from making reservations over the phone to being received at the front door. They always made sure all of my needs along with my wives were met. They make sure everything was blind accessible for my wife and I. The hotel was extremely clean, well organized and easy to navigate. Parking was not a problem. My only gripe was the king size bed. Although very big, the mattress was so heavily broken into extremely noisy and uncomfortable, but that is not to blame the staff. The bathrooms were pristine and the location is perfect. You can walk practically everywhere and anywhere and I would recommend Angie's Cafe down the street. Get the lobster Benedict I would definitely return but this time we're getting the hot tub sweet

We had the whole hotel blocked out for our wedding. Kathy was extremely helpful in planning our wedding weekend stay and we couldn’t have been happier with the price, cleanliness, and location. Right in the center of the amazing town, and a very accommodating staff. Would absolutely recommend for event blocks or just for a great spot to explore Newburyport!
